
Andrea Montgomery is currently an Early Head Start teacher at a local school district. She has worked there for the last eight years. She holds a bachelor’s degree in human services from Baker College. She is currently a Master’s level Social Work student at Walden University.
She has 19 years of experience teaching and working with children from birth to three years old. Andrea also works with young children who have special needs. Thanks to collaborating with Early On workers, case managers, school social workers, and speech pathologists throughout her career, she is an expert in ISFPS, IEPS, and BIRS.
Andrea has a soft spot for children that need help with social-emotional connections and behaviors. She helps them establish healthy relationships at school, at home and in their communities.
For her macro level internship duties, she will perform administrative tasks, develop curriculum, assist with facilitating groups, and participate in community-based programs. Her micro level internship will feature her seeing clients age 4 and up in individual counseling, family counseling, relationship counseling, and group facilitation. She plans to utilize CBT, Play Therapy, mindfulness and other approaches with her clients.
